This Privacy Policy describes how Empowering Expression LLC ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you use The Beam at getthebeam.com. The Beam is intended for users 18 years of age and older located in the United States.

What Information Do We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

  • Names
  • Email addresses
  • Phone numbers (optional - only if voluntarily provided during registration or profile setup)
  • Authentication data
  • Usage data, including IP address, browser type, and how you interact with our Services

Phone numbers, if provided, are collected solely for the purpose of optional future product communications such as surveys, feature announcements, and promotional offers including free promo codes. Providing a phone number is never required to use any feature of The Beam. You may opt out at any time by contacting us at privacy@getthebeam.com.

Payment data is handled by Stripe - we do not store your payment card details.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide and improve the Services, manage your account, send you notifications about your Mirror Report, respond to your inquiries, and comply with applicable law.

AI Processing

Friend responses submitted through The Beam are processed by AI (Claude by Anthropic) to ensure kind, growth-oriented language. Responses are anonymized - we do not share which friend wrote which response with the report recipient.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with service providers who help us operate the Services (Supabase, Anthropic, Stripe, Loops) under strict confidentiality agreements.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting privacy@getthebeam.com or by deleting your account in Settings.

Data Retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all your data is permanently removed.

Children

The Services are not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

Data Processors and Subprocessors

We use the following third-party services to provide The Beam. Each acts as a data processor on our behalf:

  • Anthropic, Inc. (anthropic.com) - Processes message content for AI rewriting and Mirror Report synthesis. Content is processed under Anthropic's API terms of service.
  • Supabase, Inc. (supabase.com) - Provides database storage and user authentication services. Data is stored in US-East region servers.
  • Loops (loops.so) - Provides transactional email delivery for notifications.
  • Stripe, Inc. (stripe.com) - Processes payment transactions. We do not store credit card or financial account information.
  • Cloudflare, Inc. (cloudflare.com) - Provides DNS, CDN, DDoS protection, and security services.
  • Lovable (lovable.dev) - Provides application hosting and delivery.

Friend Response Data

When your friends respond to your Mirror Report request through a unique link, their responses are handled as follows:

  • Their responses are processed by Claude AI (Anthropic) to be reworded in a kind and growth-oriented style before storage.
  • Responses are stored in anonymized form. We cannot associate any individual response with the specific person who submitted it.
  • Responses are never shown to other friends in your request.
  • Responses are accessible only to the account holder who created the request.
  • Responses are permanently deleted when the account holder deletes the report or their account.
  • Friend respondents are not required to create accounts and their personal identifying information is not collected or stored.

Third-Party Observers

The Beam collects feedback from third parties (your friends) on your behalf. These third parties have not created accounts with us and their personal identifying information is not collected or stored beyond the content of their voluntary responses. Any email address a friend voluntarily provides on the thank-you screen is stored only for the purpose of sending them information about The Beam and is subject to standard opt-out rights.

AI Processing Disclosure

Your submitted content and your friends' submitted responses are processed by Anthropic's Claude AI model to perform the core functions of the service: rewriting responses in kind language and synthesizing Mirror Reports. By using The Beam, you consent to this processing. We do not use your content to train AI models. Anthropic's data handling practices are governed by their privacy policy available at anthropic.com/privacy. AI-generated Mirror Reports are provided for personal reflection and self-awareness purposes only and do not constitute psychological, medical, or professional advice.
